SURROUNDS
The Mansfield Lakehouse has excellent lake access
for all types of water activities including boating, skiing
and fishing as well as protected areas for swimming. With
over 500km of shoreline at Lake Eildon you’ll find
plenty of quiet places to explore. Water levels fluctuate
in the lake dramatically during the year with the lake at
its lowest late Autumn, early winter.
‘The Lakehouse’ is located approximately 30
minutes fom Mt Buller and Mt Stirling which offer a range
of activities from downhill snowsports and cross counry
skiing in winter, to sumertime activities including, bushwalking,
mountain biking, horse riding and 4wheel driving. Abseiling
and rock climbing are also popular on Mt Buller Latrobe
Uni provide tuition year round.
Mansfield and it’s surrounding high country form
the heart of the biggest recreational horse riding area
in Australia. Tour operators are based at Mansfield, Mt
Buller and Merrijig. Companies such as Watsons offer value
for money trail rides & cater for children. (see activities

Golfers will be pleased to know that Mansfield boasts
a great 18 hole golf course with full facilities. Weekends
and peak holiday periods can be busy so bookings are advised.(see

The conditions in Mansfield are perfect for hot air ballooning
so why not consider hopping into a balloon basket and take
in the spectacular views of rolling hills, lake and mountains.
Who would think that up here in the High Country that
we have our own zoo! Open every day 10am to 4pm you and
the kids can take in regional Victoria’s largest collection
on native and exotic wildlife. Take along your lunch and
use their free BBQ facilities (see activities page).
In town there are plenty of restaurants
shops and pubs to keep you busy. High St also boasts a skateboard
park to keep the teens entertained wihile you browse the
shops or grab an ale.Before you head home why not check
out the the many great winery close ot Mansfield. Delatite
Wines and Kinloch are closeby and offer tastings and cellar
door sales.
